Overheard in Miami: 10 PRos on Their Beach Essentials

One thing we learned in our time in Miami for OnePitch Summer Tour, was that it is hot and humid there, making for some sweltering climate.

As a result, we can understand why so many folks spend time by the water here, whether that's the beach or poolside!

We loved getting to know so many familiar and new faces in Miami, and wanted to know as we're in the thick of summer...what are some beach essentials these Miami PRos won't be found without?

Read on for what 10 Miami-based PR pros told us!

    Standout Favorite Products

Summer fashion is all about function for staying cool, but that doesn't mean you have to sacrifice looking cool as well.

Gerianne Salamanca, PR and tourism intern at Newlink, gets this and remarks that she "will not receive hate" on her beach essential because she "like[s] Crocs" for their customization and personalization abilities.

In Gerianne's words about the cult favorite footwear, "if you decorate them well they're a good statement piece for your outfit" on the beach.

Anthony Kelleher, account manager, social media, at The Dana Agency, also shared a product recommendation for the sunscreen fanatics out there.

Anthony says that "Supergoop! sunscreen" is "so essential" and that this particular brand is "great for all skin types and with the Florida heat [its] so necessary."

Shaiya Wilson, creative director, brand ambassador, and media personality, is on the same page as Anthony, as her "beach essentials down here would be sunscreen" and she "definitely love[s] Supergoop! and Vacation."

In addition for Shaiya, you'll find her with a "sun hat, a really nice bikini, and a good tan."

Beach innovations are getting more and more creative, too.

For the beach Gracie Johnson, account associate at Carma Connected, recommends "sunscreen of course, [and] ice water."

Gracie also put us onto "the CoolCabana, which is a tent thing you pop up and fill with sand, and it gives you so much shade." We'll take 100 of this revolutionary invention, please!

    For Summer Fun

Summer is the time to enjoy all things water sports, from swimming and beyond, and in Miami, this isn't hard to do.

This is why Mateo Guevara, PR and tourism intern at Newlink, is a fan of "a good pair of goggles" and "if you really want to get into it, a snorkel."

Mateo recommends taking the snorkel route because, in his words "there's a lot of cool stuff living out in the ocean."

    Keepin' It Beach Classic

Beach essentials don't have to be complicated with anything too fancy as long as you have the basics, as several of our PRos shared with us.

Olivia Payne, account coordinator at Hemsworth Communications, keeps things simple at the beach with timeless essentials like "a towel, sunscreen, and sunglasses."

Nicole Velez, senior account executive at 5WPR, feels the same, reporting that "her beach essential would be two towels, one to lay on and then one to dry yourself off with, my speaker, and sunglasses!" Pro towel tip and perfect assortment of items!

Stephanie Stone, account executive at Brustman Carrino Public Relations, agrees as well, noting that her favorite things to bring for a day at the beach are "sunglasses and a good book."

Jenna Lance, account coordinator at Max Borges Agency, also keeps things sweet and simple with "sunscreen, a hat, and maybe a little fan to keep me cool."

Emma Bruno, public relations account coordinator, also at Brustman Carrino Public Relations, is all about enjoying the sun with "sunscreen, tanning oil, and sunglasses."
