On this week’s Pitches That Placed, we’re highlighting a pitch that landed coverage, and a video interview, in Black Enterprise for its introduction to a valuable source. Let’s see why this pitch worked:
Let’s take a look at the actual pitch that placed:
Subject line: RE: Covid-19 Causes Carrol Fife to take the Oakland Housing Fight National
Greetings ____,
Do you recall the recent media stories about the mothers in Oakland that were evicted from the vacant house with their children in it? I would like to introduce you to Carroll Fife, the housing and community activist in Oakland who's local fight for housing rights has become a national movement with the Covid-19 crisis causing major issues with rent, mortgage defaults, and homelessness. Carroll has been working with leaders and legislatures to come up with solutions to some of these problems.
Please let me know if there is an opportunity for Carroll to be a part of a conversation that you are currently engaged in for Black Enterprise, an interview to give insight, or a profile on the work that she is doing and the difference that she is making. Carrol can provide expert commentary or she can interactively add to your content.
Our PR bestie explains why it worked:
- “I knew what kind of material this journalist liked to cover.”
- “I knew that she was from the Bay Area and was familiar with the community.”
- “The story was good for the publication that I was pitching to get placed in.”
- “I became a fan of the work that she was doing and the story that she was telling. I was 100% sure that she would nail it in print and on camera.”
